LING HE Wish exchange dandelion, 2012 ribbons, balloons, wishes, acrylic
What good is a playful dream, a wish, if it stays laden down inside?
The forest of balloons with wishes written on their ribbon strings asks visitors to release one of their brethrens, and replenish the vacancy with their own wish balloons.

This metabolism of anonymous request and generosity keeps refreshing the atmosphere within the confinement of the room, gaining a confusion of role between the displayed and the viewer, a wisher, a suppressor, a granter. Meanwhile, my wish to explore generosity is dispersed through 99 puzzle pieces travelling in balloon style that would spirit innocent spotters to return them, with drawings on their backs, to the gallery. Neither the puzzle, nor the room, has a right answer – it is defined with how much each participant would like to give.
